TOUR LOGO HISTORY
When the idea came up for our own golf tour, little did we know just where that golden brick road led to. Before we knew it, we were building more than just a special annual get away just for brothers and mates, but a year round hub where we could keep in touch informally through the various competitions, contests and banter we were able to engage in. It had quickly become bigger than any individual member.
Our logo's are probably a good reflection of that growth. Initially we started with a relatively simple design that encapsulated the humble beginnings of our adventure. The use of the words 'Inaugural Tour' were a time endorsing addition. The simple B on the ball saying everything with one look.
As the years went on, Craig's Carnival personally changed the designs of each logo. Whilst he was no technological Rembrandt, and as with anything 'arty', each had their own opinions on the finished products (and wisely kept these to opinions to themselves!). Craig's Carnival offered two things to the group. He could do it and he was cheap!
We tried to use golf balls to mark each season. You will see that each season up to B8 had the same amount of golf balls for each tour number it was. B4 had 4 balls in coloured rings at the bottom. (The larger 5th ball behind the 'B4' was added to give some presence to the logo).
B7 actually has a tiny ball above the 7 to make 7 golf balls. While B8 had to count the eight ball as a golf ball to get there. As you can see, by tour number 8 the golf balls were becoming an albatross around our designer necks.
Come tour number 9 we streamlined the logo to keep things as simple as possible. Much easier for printing purposes, especially for Zevo Global (Cryan Out Loud) on all of our first class merchandise. But we wanted to hold onto our heritage and history, so ensured our Croc and Shooter logos were included.
Our Croc and Shooter logos first appeared on our BTB6 logo. These characters reflecting the two teams involved in our comps. Originally the Croc represented the country lads involved in our tour, while the Shooter fronted the city boys. This lasted for a few seasons until we realised this concept actually restricted our tour balance instead of helping it. These days any member from anywhere can be a part of the Crocs, Shooters, Cattledogs or King Browns - it all depends on where they are drafted by the team captains at the start of each season.
The Croc logo was actually designed by tour member #26 Comelateronstie. 'While Shooter' was designed by #1 Craig's Carnival and is loosely based on a golfing version of Yosemite Sam. Ron (Comelateronstie) had his Croc drinking a beer, wearing a country origin football jumper, holding a golf club. We loved it instantly.
As of BTB12 both characters were retired, upgraded logos needed for both original teams and the newer Cattledogs and King Brown teams. The BTB12 tour never eventuated (Covid19) so that logo was never officially finalised nor added to any merchandise.
We had a sponsor for 5 years of the tour. As with any sponsor, the incorporation of their logo with ours is a given. Not since BTB8 though have we elected to add an official sponsor.
By BTB12 though the official logos of our tour had trimmed down somewhat. One reason being the need for a 'clean' looking logo to match the times but also the rise of our actual tour name's becoming more prevalent in our BTB brand representation.
From BTB13 our brand new team logos will be effectively on everything we do. Using our four teams (Shooters, Crocs, Cattledogs & King Browns) and new BTB ball logos, the current feel via the logos is one of a pop-art, fun cartoon style of image. Because in the end that is what we want ... an excuse to banter, enjoy each others company informally along life's way and most of all to have a great time together. Always.

TOUR NAME HISTORY
The Be The Ball Tour didn't start naming tours until BTB4 Forster. It was a road trip for 48 members from across 3 states. The logo was a perfect way to sum up the situation and one all can relate to.
Since then, when naming a tour, we look for themes that reflect our group. We are a male based tour that spans decades in age and life position. From young single men learning how to have a good time with their relatives and friends to retirees who want a well organised tour that offers great company with no trouble.
The Reservoir Dogs is a classic. Mr Pink, Mr White and so on, as a group walking on, suited our Tarantino vibes brilliantly. The Usual Suspects sums up so many aspects of being away together. Older classics like The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape and Dirty Dozen were classics in their own right. Their names also just happened to fit that touring season number nicely. Bo Derek for our 10th year? Could there have been any other? Die Hard & Oceans 11 faves for all the reasons that fit what BTB is.
